History of Morse Code

📜 Origins

Morse code was developed in the 1830s by Samuel Morse and his assistant Alfred Vail. It revolutionized long-distance communication before the telephone was invented.

📡 The Telegraph Era

The first Morse code message "What hath God wrought" was sent in 1844 from Washington D.C. to Baltimore. This marked the beginning of electrical telecommunications.

✈️ Aviation Legacy

Morse code remained essential in aviation and maritime navigation well into the 20th century. Vessels were required to carry radio operators trained in Morse code.

🎖️ Military Significance

During World War II, Morse code was used extensively for secret military communications. Its simplicity made it difficult to intercept and decode.
